In 1921, Knud Jacobsen defined the industry with a mower that could cut four acres of grass in one day. In 1969, the Jacobsen brand went on to redefine performance with the first hydraulically powered triplex greens mower, in 1988 they introduced the first lightweight fairway mower, and in 1995 they patented the FlashAttach® reel mounting system.
The formation of Jacobsen, formerly known as Textron Golf, Turf & Specialty Products, began in 1998 after Textron Inc. purchased Ransomes PLC of England and merged it with Jacobsen Textron - creating Textron Turf Care And Specialty Products. In April 2000, management teams from Textron Turf Care And Specialty Products, E-Z-GO Textron and Steiner-Brouwer Textron were combined to form Textron Golf,Turf & Specialty Products. In 2003, the company name was officially changed to Jacobsen, A Textron Company. Through the Jacobsen brands, the company is able to provide customers with the most innovative turf maintenance equipment and specialty vehicles available, along with the highest level of customer service.
